Mining Engineer& MSc Environmental Management
Hello, I’m Dilara Sert– the curious mind (and coffee-fueled writer) behind thinkmining.blog.
My journey started with a Mining Engineering degree from Istanbul University, where I learned that mining is much more than digging rocks—it’s about shaping how we use our planet’s resources responsibly. I’ve since made it my mission to prove that mining and sustainability can, in fact, be best friends. Mining has always been close to my heart as it runs in my family. My father was a miner, and growing up with his stories taught me respect for the industry and admiration for the people who dedicate their lives to it — only now, I’m carrying the torch forward with a focus on making mining not only productive, but also sustainable for the future.
Along the way, I picked up a Master’s in Environmental Management at Glasgow Caledonian University, which gave me the perfect toolkit to connect the dots between mining, technology, and the environment. Think of me as someone who loves spreadsheets and sustainability reports just as much as I love shiny minerals. This blog is where I explore ideas like:
How mining can go green without losing its sparkle ✨
Why waste is just a resource in disguise ♻️
And how advanced tech is changing the industry faster than you can say “automation” ⚙️
I hope you find my posts insightful, maybe even a little entertaining. Because let’s face it—mining might be serious business, but that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun while talking about it.
